Perfect stay at Hyatt Herald Square
We loved our stay at this location. TAYLOR at check in was especially helpful and friendly. She even had a tray of fruit and a Happy Anniversary card for us in our room when we checked in. She allowed us to leave our luggage since we had an early arrival, and texted us as soon as our room was ready. Room was super clean, and we had a great view of the Empire State Building.
Overall one of our favorite Hyatt hotels ever, and we have stayed in many. The staff is probably the friendliest we have ever encountered at a Hyatt. Now, yes this is a very expensive and small property with very small rooms (standard for NYC and common in other major cities) Our room had a descent layout with good use of space compares to other small rooms we’ve been in, and a very comfortable king bed. The room was clean and not dusty at all which is rare these days. The soundproofing is solid which is also rare especially in a a location like this. There is no real workspace if you wanted to work on your laptop though unless you can do so on a small couch. I would have loved to be reminded of the rooftop area though, shame.
Good hotel in a very good location. It is relatively quiet, far from times square. You can go by foot to Hudson yards, Pen station or Times Square so the location is great.
The rooms are a bit outdated but overall clean. Service was very good.
I stayed here for a work. I had a king size deluxe bed. The rooms are small but that’s NYC for you. The bed was extremely comfortable- great sleep. The bathroom was modern and had good toiletries which were refillable( better than small sized bottles). The water pressure in shower was great. Good location if you are in mid town. The only thing that is terrible here is their breakfast. Please don’t bother. The eggs ( omelette or sunny side up) was tooo oily. How can you screw up eggs? Coffee is okay. On one of the days they served me the sides of a bread loaf as toast. When I raised this as an issue- the server simply said we are out of toast. No effort to correct or remove it off the bill. That was really pathetic. Please fix your breakfast and you would be one of the better hotels around. No complaints apart from that.
I came here before as a solo traveller and for one person the room was good but for the recent stay of two queen bedroom was pretty small for 4 people. The walls were really thin so almost every night we heard what next door was up to. The staff in the lobby were welcoming and nice BUT the hotel lacks the flexibility and communication with the housekeeping staff as we were literally kicked out of the room by housekeeping even after a call with the front desk about checking out later after our payment for the taxes and stuff. Now the only good thing about it is the convenient location. Probably will not be coming back a 3rd time as the housekeeping miscommunication on the last day ruined the end of the trip.
Two staff members lacked sufficient knowledge regarding check-in charges and nightly parking costs, providing inaccurate information. Despite booking two king rooms, the accommodations were cramped, barely accommodating a baby stroller. Unpleasant odors permeated one of the rooms. The $15 USD food and snack credit, discovered during booking, went unmentioned during check-in. When inquired about on the last day, the receptionist explained it was limited to bar, drink, and dinner after 5 PM. The absence of a restroom in the lobby inconvenienced guests. Enduring a 15-minute wait to check out with a crying baby culminated in an overall unsatisfactory experience.
Visiting for the NYC Marathon. Stayed 5 nights. Hotel is right off of Broadway so walking distance to most attractions and tons of restaurants and bars. They have an amazing bar on the roof top, only open in the summer, with amazing views. 3 buildings down is a cute gourmet doughnut Cafe. The doughnuts are so cute and tasty. The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are clean and a great value!
The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The location is really pretty perfect, on a relatively quiet street, but close to lots of things. The room was tidy and modern, with a great view.
